Graham and Mary
Graham and Mary Witts

Graham and Mary Witts and Jax, the dog will be walking from Burnham to Egypt this Summer to raise money for the ongoing financial support of the work of the episcopal area of Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa, in the Diocese of Egypt, and also for USPG projects in Ethiopia.

Graham and Mary are long term friends of Bishop Andrew and Janice Proud (since theological college days). Now Mary is the Course Director of the TEE scheme (Theological Education by Extension) in the Episcopal area, traveling out to Addis, (or Gambella) three times a year to teach the Certificate course to a group of tutors, who in their turn teach the church leaders, and others. Each October, Graham (parish priest of Burnham on Sea) has helped to write and teach the liturgical elements of the certificate course. At the moment, USPG fund the salaries of the TEE tutors, as well as their ongoing support of the Prouds as Mission Companions.

On 29th July, Graham and Mary will set out from their home in Burnham on Sea to walk to Egypt (a village in Buckinghamshire, near Burnham Beeches). They will walk across the Somerset levels, through Wells, across the Mendips to Bradford on Avon. Then they will follow the Kennet and Avon canal path to Reading, and the Thames as far as Egypt. The walk will take as long as it takes to cover the 130 miles.
