Michael Beasley is running the London Marathon in support of USPG as part of a three-man team from Westcott House Theological College, in Cambridge.
Michael writes:
"My first experience of Africa was to spend the best part of two years working in three rural villages in North East Tanzania, namely Misongeni, Ubembe and Kilometa Saba.

The people there were incredibly kind, making me welcome, helping me with great generosity and teaching me about life in their country.
Most people in Tanzania are extremely poor and their lives can often be put in jeopardy by the simplest of health conditions because they are unable to access treatment. People who lived in the villages where I worked were fortunate to be able to turn to Teule Hospital, in the nearby town of Muheza, which helps the lives of thousands with only the minimum of funding.
The money I raise through running the London Marathon will go to USPG’s Healthcare for Tanzania Project, which supports Teule and other hospitals in Tanzania.
I think running the marathon is my chance to say thank you and to give something back to people that gave me a great deal." |
