Andrew in Windsor

Andrew Gale is no stranger to athletic endurance - he has competed in several triathlons (most of them in the gruelling heat of Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand) and two half-Ironmans.  However this is his first attempt at a marathon and he has taken on the challenge with enthusiasm.  He is enjoying training in the relative comfort of England's moderate climate, and is a regular at Richmond Park where he and his black labrador, Tarka, pound the paths at the weekends clocking up valuable mileage - Tarka's energy is clearly limitless as the 15-mile double-loop of the park does not tire her.

Is there a canine category in the Flora London Marathon !

Andrew writes:

"I shall be raising money for USPG, an established Christian charity that supports vital work amongst the poor and marginalised communities in over 40 countries. USPG works around the world to provide development work ,health care and education where it is most needed. They do this alongside local communities, providing the resources – people, money and ideas – that they define as necessary to meet local needs.

This year the money I raise for USPG will be going to help the destitute orphans in Bangladesh, to provide clothing, shelter and a future in life.

While I don’t profess to be a particularly religious person, I support USPG’s ethos and I am proud to be assisting them in their efforts to give aid where it is most needed in the world."
